Fikayo Tomori earned an appeal to the English squad for the upcoming World Cup qualifiers against Andorra and Hungary, with coach Gareth Southgate saying on Thursday, that the middle defender was rewarded for impressive performances in high-pressure matches for AC Milan.
23-annual Tomori moved to Milan permanently from Chelsea in June after hosting an Italian club in the second half of last season.
With Harry Maguire suspended for calf injury, Tomori is back in England as one of the four middle defenders and after his debut in November 2019 against Kosovo in the European Championship qualifiers could win his second senior jersey for his country.
“He plays in a club, where victory is expected every week, so he plays under pressure,” said Southgate.
"I like Fikayo in terms of his aggressiveness as a defender. Because it has speed, is confident enough to do that, to defend on the front leg and his use of the ball is constantly improving. "
Ollie Watkins has returned to the Euro for the first time since he was eliminated from the preliminary squad 2020 and into the assembly, which reached the final after injury to Dean Henderson, goalkeeper Aaron Ramsdale returned without a cadre.
Right defender Trent Alexander-Arnold joined Maguire, who fell out of the frame for injury, while Patrick Bamford, Nick Pope and Jude Bellingham were also missing.
Phil Foden was fired after dropping matches in September over a foot complaint.
England is at the head of its qualifying group after five victories and a draw with a lead of four points over the second Albania.
